Secretly (Insert Social Group)
I wonder if I am secretly a member of other social groups, or if I am just a human being. People keep describing their experiences and issues as (insert social group), and I think to myself “Hey, I’ve experienced that before too or something similar.” So either I am not really a white male, or some of these experiences actually happen to all humans.
This is not to diminish the struggles faced by various social groups, but more to point out that perhaps we have more in common than we think. We are all human being with various struggles, sometimes in different forms and sometimes the same.
Maybe if we focused more on what we have in common, we’d realize we are all human beings and get along more.
